J.P. Maithani has done his schooling from Government Inter-College Chamoli. He has done his BSc from DBS College, Dehradun, Masters in Sociology from DAV College, Dehradun and after that he did masters in Mass Communication from Garhwal University. He wanted to start his own enterprise and started an Eco-Tourism based activity in Pipalkoti in 1999 as he was always interested in mountaineering and trekking from childhood. He got his basic training in mountaineering and trekking from National Adventure Foundation, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
