Agni Verma's Story

Agni Verma is an internationally renowned Sitarist who has played in many National and International Music conferences and festivals. He has been learning and playing Sitar for over 33 years and is currently teaching music at the Musoorie International School. His name is in the Guinness Book of World Records for playing Sitar non-stop for 60 hours. He is a graded artist of All India Radio and a recipient of the President Award, Surmani award, Prayag Gaurav award and Uttarakhand Ratan. Recently, he founded the Tapkeshwar Sangit Samaroh in Dehradun and has ventured into Music Therapy.

What is Playing Sitar / What is a Career in Playing Sitar: The sitar is a plucked stringed instrument used in Hindustani classical music. The instrument is believed to have been derived from the veena. It became popular through the works of Pandit Ravi Shankar.
