Diwan Thakur did his schooling from Government Senior Secondary School, Katrain. He then pursued his graduation from Chandigarh. After his Graduation he went to University of Shimla to do his Masters in Economics. It was during this time that he started to get attracted towards outdoor sports and activities. He worked in various private firms and it was in 2013 that he opened Himalayan Yeti in 2013.

Outdoor Activity Course / How I got into Outdoor Activity: "I did my schooling from Government Senior Secondary School, Katrain. After my Schooling I did my graduation from Chandigarh. I then did my Masters in Economics from Shimla University. It was during that time that I got interested in Adventure Sports. So, I pursued my passion and did a skiing as well as Mountaineering Course. My partner and I opened a Travel and adventure company-Himalayan Yeti in 2013."
