Ravi Chopra was born in the year of independence and did his BTech from IIT, Bomaby in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering. Then he went to New Jersey for his PhD and there he did his research and as well as taught for 13 years. Then he came back to India in 1981, created a report in Centre for Science and Environment, Delhi with one of his friend, called as the State of India's Environment- A Citizen's Report. The report got a lot of recognition in whole world. He also worked for some years for the environment issues. In 1987-88 he established the People's Science Institue in Dehradun with his few friends and started working for society.
