Exploring a Career in IoT Pre-Sales In a rapidly evolving technological landscape, careers in fields like the Internet of Things (IoT) are not only promising but also dynamic and engaging. For professionals like Anshul Bhandari, who dived into pre-sales for IoT, this domain offers the opportunity to merge technical expertise with business insights. This article provides a deep dive into the world of IoT pre-sales, exploring essential education, skills, the positive aspects of the career, and the challenges professionals face, along with a glimpse into a typical day in their lives. What Is IoT pre-sales refers to the phase where technical solutions for IoT applications are designed and proposed to potential clients before a sale is finalized. Anshul describes this role as one that involves developing technical solutions for various industries, including manufacturing and smart home technologies. The significance of this role cannot be overstated, as it helps bridge the gap between complex technological offerings and client needs. For instance, creating compelling demonstrations for potential clients is crucial in showcasing how IoT solutions can effectively enhance their operations. Education A strong foundation in programming languages is essential for anyone pursuing a career in IoT pre-sales. Anshul emphasizes the importance of being well-versed in both front-end technologies like JavaScript and back-end languages such as Java and Python. Understanding these languages enables professionals to craft effective technical solutions that resonate with clients. For example, having knowledge of how to integrate various programming languages into IoT solutions can significantly enhance the clarity and functionality of the proposals presented to clients. Keeping up with the latest technological advances is paramount in the IoT sector. Anshul highlights that technical professionals need to stay informed about new databases and emerging platforms. Familiarity with cutting-edge technologies enables pre-sales specialists to tailor solutions that not only meet current market demands but also provide clients with a competitive edge. For instance, being aware of the latest trends can help in advising clients on the most efficient IoT solutions for their specific industrial applications. Understanding the business models relevant to clients is an integral part of the pre-sales process. Anshul explains that for successful proposals, one must grasp the specific nature of the client’s industry, like manufacturing or retail. This knowledge ensures that technical suggestions are not only viable but also beneficial to the client’s operational strategy. By understanding the intricacies of a client’s business, a pre-sales professional can create more tailored and effective solutions, ultimately leading to successful engagements. Skills Public speaking is a critical skill for anyone in a pre-sales role, as communicated by Anshul. This competency allows professionals to effectively present technical solutions to clients and stakeholders. Articulating ideas clearly in public forums enhances credibility and fosters better client relationships. Anshul’s experiences as a speaker at international conferences underscore the importance of this skill; sharing insights about Angular at such platforms significantly boosts both personal credibility and awareness of innovative technology. Being analytical is crucial in converting technical knowledge into actionable business solutions. Anshul points out that having the vision to integrate technical specifications with business requirements is essential. This skill enables pre-sales specialists to identify the best solutions for client problems promptly. For instance, a thorough analysis of a client's needs can lead to the swift identification of an appropriate IoT application to address their specific operational challenges. Effective client handling goes beyond technical knowledge—it's about building relationships. Anshul emphasizes the importance of being responsive and adaptable when dealing with clients. This dynamic nature allows for immediate problem-solving and fosters trust. For example, being able to address client concerns spontaneously during meetings can make a significant difference in securing a deal or maintaining ongoing partnerships. The ability to think on one’s feet is vital in pre-sales roles, as Anshul notes that client needs can arise unexpectedly. Being spontaneous involves having the technical knowledge and creativity to devise solutions in real-time. This adaptability can lead to impressive, tailored responses that might seal a deal. For instance, if a client presents a last-minute requirement, a pre-sales professional must quickly assess and present a feasible solution using their existing knowledge and resources. With a multitude of responsibilities, time management becomes a cornerstone skill for pre-sales specialists. Anshul explains that balancing client meetings with technical learning is essential. Proper time management allows professionals to allocate sufficient time to update their technical skills while also being available for client interactions. For example, scheduling blocked hours to work on technical projects can help mitigate the chaos of client demands while enhancing personal development. Positives One of the standout features of a career in IoT pre-sales is its dynamic nature. Anshul describes a work environment free from monotony, where no two days are alike. This dynamism allows professionals to tackle various challenges across different sectors, which keeps the work exciting. For instance, pre-sales duties might involve designing a solution for an energy company one day and addressing a manufacturing unit's needs the next. In such a fast-paced field, constant learning is not just an asset; it's a necessity. Anshul emphasizes how the role encourages continuous professional development. This can lead to enhanced skills and deeper industry knowledge, which are crucial in staying relevant. The continual adaptation to new technologies means that every project can contribute to one’s expertise. Networking is an invaluable aspect of working in IoT pre-sales. Anshul's interactions with influential professionals, like directors of major firms, showcase how connecting with key industry figures can open new opportunities. These relationships can lead to collaboration or business deals, providing an avenue for personal and professional growth. Adding monetary value to a company through successful pre-sales efforts is a motivating factor for professionals like Anshul. This role not only influences personal career paths but also directly impacts the bottom line of the organizations they represent. For example, securing a large client project through effective pre-sales can enhance the company's revenue and market presence significantly. The journey through a pre-sales role can pave the way for diverse career advancement opportunities. Anshul notes that many professionals in technical fields naturally progress towards such roles, suggesting a pathway from engineering to consultancy and beyond. This trajectory can lead to various positions, allowing individuals to explore different aspects of technology and business. Challenges One of the significant challenges of a career in IoT pre-sales is the commitment required, often extending beyond traditional work hours. Anshul points out that professionals may need to be available for client calls at any time, which can disrupt personal life. This round-the-clock demand can lead to burnout if not carefully managed. Frequent travel and an unpredictable schedule are additional challenges that come with the territory. While traveling can be invigorating, excessive travel can become tiring. Anshul reflects on how managing a hectic schedule requires resilience and effective prioritization of tasks, balancing client responsibilities with personal time. A Day Of Anshul describes a typical day in his role as characterized by flexibility coupled with high demands. Rather than adhering to strict 9-to-6 hours, he enjoys the freedom to dictate his schedule, often working across multiple screens to manage various tasks. His day might involve technical development, meetings with clients, and continuous collaboration with colleagues to strategize solutions. Despite the hectic nature, there are moments for informal catch-ups that foster teamwork and shared learning. As the day unfolds, Anshul's ability to simultaneously manage client interactions and technical updates reflects the multifaceted reality of a pre-sales specialist in IoT. In conclusion, a career in IoT pre-sales presents vast opportunities for those passionate about technology, client engagement, and continuous learning. While it comes with its fair share of challenges—such as unpredictable hours and the demand for constant adaptability—the rewards of dynamic work, professional growth, and making meaningful business contributions make this path an attractive choice for aspiring professionals. Through his experiences and insights, Anshul lays down a roadmap for others to explore this exciting frontier in technology. | |

Rain water management is the technique of preserving the rain water and a method of getting the water back into the ground instead of it flowing away. Using techniques such as digging trenches also known as thankia, making recharge pits between the trenches which are filled up with small stones and creating large ponds right on top of the hill are effective methods. This is usually done above the villages in the forest areas. Once the ponds are full, the water would flow into the trenches and then into the recharge pits therefore stopping the water from flowing away, preventing soil erosion and other such problems. As a result the important trees such as rhododendrons etc started growing better and the natural resource of the village which had dried up is now full again for the village people to use.
"I attained my B Com and M Com followed by a Diploma in Export Management and Yogic Science. Then I started working on Rain Water Management with Himalayan Flora Swayatt Sehkarita and I am also simultaneously pursuing an MA in Sociology."
