What is Teaching Aerial Yoga?

Teaching Aerial Yoga is a great Career option. One should first understand What a Career in Teaching Aerial Yoga entails before investing time and effort to figure out How to start a Career in Teaching Aerial Yoga. Just like you would normally not trust a non Doctor with names of medicines, you should also not trust opinions about Teaching Aerial Yoga from non professionals.

Yoga Teacher Manisha Kohli has worked in Teaching Aerial Yoga for 2 years & 7 months. Yoga Teacher Manisha Kohli outlines Teaching Aerial Yoga as:

A yoga teacher is an individual trained to properly teach the poses used in yoga practice. Their role can also extend beyond the physical aspects of yoga as they may take a holistic approach that incorporates the mental, emotional and spiritual elements of the discipline into their teaching. A yoga teacher's specific approach to instruction is partly the result of their training and the type of yoga they practice. A traditional Hatha or Bhakti yoga teacher will not have the same teaching style as someone who is teaching newer fitness styles like Power yoga. Some yoga teachers take a gentle, spiritual approach to teaching, while others emphasize the conditioning aspects of yoga in their instruction.

How Yoga Teacher Manisha Kohli got into Teaching Aerial Yoga?

After completing my schooling from Loreto Convent School Delhi, I did my bachelors in Fashion Designing from NIFT, Delhi. In 2006, I started my career as Design Manager at Zen Design Solutions Limited, Delhi. The clients included North America and European markets dealing with Cosmetic Packaging, Application & Dispensing Systems, and Mac & Estee Lauder being the major clients. I am the VP Business Development with Zen Design Solutions Limited. My inclination towards yoga led me to Teacher Training Programme called Register Yoga Training (RYT) from Yoga Alliance and also took Training for Aerial yoga from the Circus Aerialist, Delhi. In 2015, I started two separate studios for two different forms of yoga one for Vinyasa Flow and the other for aerial yoga by the name of The Yoga Chakra in Delhi.

The Journey of a Yoga Trainer: Manisha's Inspiring Path to Empower Others Through Movement

Manisha, a passionate yoga trainer based in South Delhi, invites us into her vibrant world where the art of yoga meets the science of well-being. With two flourishing studios, she offers unique forms of yoga, including Vinyasa Flow and Aerial Yoga, designed to deepen her students' understanding and practice of these disciplines. In this article, we will explore her journey, the necessary education, skills required in this field, the positives and challenges of being a yoga instructor, and a glimpse into her daily routine.

What Is Teaching Aerial Yoga?

Teaching Aerial Yoga transcends the conventional understanding of yoga; it is about liberty and expression through movement in the air. Aerial Yoga uses hammocks suspended from the ceiling, allowing practitioners to experience asanas in a gravity-defying way. This innovative approach not only enhances flexibility and strength but also encourages mindfulness and breath control, integral to all yoga practices. As Manisha describes, yoga is a holistic science that combines physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation to foster a deeper connection between the mind and body.

Education

Yoga Training

### Yoga Training Image

To become a capable yoga instructor, one must undergo specific training recognized globally. Manisha highlights the importance of certifications like the Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) program, which typically requires either 200 or 500 hours of training. The 200-hour course focuses on personal practice and foundational knowledge, while the 500-hour program delves deeper into anatomy and therapeutic applications of yoga, equipping trainers with the skills necessary to guide students effectively.

Nutrition & Diet

### Nutrition & Diet Image

Manisha emphasizes that a solid understanding of nutrition and diet is essential for yoga practitioners. This knowledge enables instructors to provide guidance on energizing food choices and meal timings, which directly impact overall performance and well-being. After all, the connection between a healthy diet and yoga practice can significantly enhance one's physical capabilities and mental clarity.

Social Media Marketing

### Social Media Marketing Image

In today's digital age, understanding social media marketing is crucial for any yoga instructor. Manisha asserts that marketing skills help to spread awareness of yoga practices and build one’s reputation as a trainer. Effectively positioning oneself and their offerings online can attract a broader student base and foster a vibrant community.

Anatomy

### Anatomy Image

Anatomy plays a pivotal role in yoga instruction. As highlighted by Manisha, an in-depth grasp of human anatomy helps instructors understand how different asanas affect various muscles and organs. This knowledge not only aids in teaching proper alignment but also in preventing injuries amongst students.

Study of Asanas

### Study of Asanas Image

Comprehending the intricate details of asanas is fundamental for any aspiring yoga teacher. According to Manisha, understanding the correct alignment and the physical and emotional impacts of various postures is vital. This deeper awareness ensures that instructors guide their students safely through their practice.

Pranayams

### Pranayams Image

Pranayama, or breath control, is another cornerstone of yoga education. Manisha points out that a significant number of individuals do not know how to breathe correctly, which is essential for maximizing the benefits of yoga. By understanding proper breathing techniques, students can enhance their practice and overall health.

Knowledge of Sanskrit

### Knowledge of Sanskrit Image

A knowledge of Sanskrit enriches the yoga teaching experience, as many asanas and mantras are derived from this ancient language. Manisha asserts that understanding the meanings behind the terminology enhances the connection to yoga’s roots. It allows instructors to convey deeper insights to their students during practice.

Meditation Techniques

### Meditation Techniques Image

With the fast-paced nature of modern life, teaching meditation techniques has become increasingly important for yoga instructors. Manisha mentions that many students seek assistance in achieving a meditative state. Instructors are thus equipped with various techniques to help students relax their minds and deepen their practice.

Skills

Communication Skills

### Communication Skills Image

Excellent communication is paramount for effective yoga instruction. Manisha stresses the importance of clear and concise instruction, which fosters an open environment where students feel encouraged to express themselves. Non-verbal communication, like body language, also plays a crucial role in connecting with students on a deeper level.

Empathy

### Empathy Image

Empathy is integral to the role of a yoga teacher. According to Manisha, understanding and relating to students' emotional and physical challenges builds trust and rapport. Instructors often find themselves in supportive roles, listening to their students and providing guidance through tough moments.

Motivational Ability

### Motivational Ability Image

Manisha believes that motivational ability is essential for inspiring students to pursue their goals. Instructors must embody the changes they wish to see in others, encouraging students through their personal transformations and fostering a culture of growth and improvement.

Discipline

### Discipline Image

Discipline is a foundational skill that yoga instructors must cultivate. Manisha notes that maintaining a consistent practice—whether through daily routines or structured classes—is vital for personal growth and influences how instructors can inspire their students.

Positives

Satisfaction

### Satisfaction Image

The immense satisfaction derived from teaching yoga is one of its greatest rewards. Manisha shares that witnessing her students’ progress and transformation brings her profound joy. The gratitude and positivity exchanged between instructor and student create a fulfilling teaching environment.

Self Development

### Self Development Image

Being a yoga trainer encourages continuous self-development. Manisha notes that the discipline and day-to-day challenges faced as an instructor lead to personal growth, enhancing not just physical flexibility but also mental resilience and emotional strength.

Positive Outlook

### Positive Outlook Image

Yoga nurtures a more positive outlook on life. As instructors like Manisha delve deeper into their practice, they often find themselves adopting a more optimistic perspective, thereby impacting the way they respond to life's challenges and stressors, particularly in fostering inner peace during turmoil.

Challenges

Time Management

### Time Management Image

Time management presents a significant challenge for many yoga instructors, and Manisha is no exception. Balancing a day job, classes, and personal practice demands careful planning. In her experience, carving out time for herself amidst various responsibilities can be a daunting task.

Social Awareness

### Social Awareness Image

Social awareness is another hurdle faced by yoga practitioners. Manisha highlights the misconception surrounding yoga, especially among the younger demographic who often perceive it as less engaging than other forms of exercise. Breaking down these barriers and showcasing the dynamic nature of yoga is crucial in broadening its appeal.

Teaching yoga, like the name suggests, is the way your teachers teaches you, but it is more related to the health of the people these days. When I teach people during the day it is not basically explaining some subject, but teaching them art of leaving and art of being healthy, happier, distressed and at the same time you being more happy, healthy and distressed as the teacher, so it is a two way program as a teacher you are healthy yourself and you making people healthy too.
